Little Robots
What is Little Robots?
Little Robots was created by Alex Rodrigues - Cofounder of Embark Trucks and the youngest CEO of a public company as of 2022 - to support science and technology education projects for aspiring young roboticists and scientists. Alex has elected to receive $0 in salary in 2022, with the money going to fund micro-grants for worthy STEM education causes through Little Robots instead. All kinds of programs are eligible, from summer camps to robotics teams - what’s important is helping young people discover a passion for learning and building things! If that sounds like you or someone you know we’d love to hear from you - whether you are building your first robot or competing in a world championship, we’d love to support you along the way!
A Message From Alex
As someone with a lifelong passion for robotics leading Embark building self-driving trucks - and tackling the most interesting robotics problem of the decade - is a dream come true! I’m incredibly fortunate for the amazing parents, teachers, coaches and local businesses who nurtured my love of robotics and supported me along the way. Embark would not exist without the many people who believed in and supported my efforts in robotics from an early age - including my middle-school robotics teacher Mr. Sveen, SAIT technical college sponsoring Alberta Tech Alliance, machinist Jeff McIrea spending his weekends machining parts with my robotics team and Novatel lending us a $30k GPS for our first self-driving golf-cart prototype. I am very grateful for this support and amazed at how these small investments have cascaded into the incredible team and impact Embark is able to have today. Little Robots is my way of saying thank you to everyone that helped me on my journey - by paying forward and supporting the next generation of young roboticists.
